Ensuring Galeo firmware is up-to-date

When a firmware update becomes available, you will receive an in-app notification when connected via Bluetooth. If you ignore this alert, or would like to check if your firmware is up to date at any time, simply establish a Bluetooth connection with your device — if a firmware update is available, you will receive a prompt.

Red circle around Galeo’s location on the map screen

The colored circle around the device on the map indicates the area it’s located in.

  • Orange – Its precise GPS location.
  • Green – Nearest cell tower that it’s pinging. (If the device cannot get a GPS lock, you will get the option to view its cell tower location. This is a less precise location than GPS.)
  • Red – The app failed to locate the device.

Can I use my own cage mount?

Galeo has a universal hole spacing of 64mm, meaning you can mount the device to most aftermarket cage mount brackets.

Where's the best place to mount Galeo?

Galeo performs best when facing up, with limited obstruction to the sky. Galeo was designed to be mounted on handlebars, but can also be mounted in place of a water bottle cage.

Check out this video for mounting instructions:

Galeo is not reporting its position

There are a few potential reasons why the Galeo location cannot be reported.

  1. Galeo may be located inside a structure that limits GPS and/or cell reception. This can include a garage with steel siding, a parking garage with thick concrete walls, or other similar steel/concrete structures.
  2. Your bike has tipped over. Galeo operates best when it is pointed toward the sky. If your bike has tipped over and is facing the ground or a wall, this could cause GPS issues.
  3. Galeo has been physically damaged and is no longer operable.
  4. Galeo’s battery is dead and it needs to be charged.
  5. Galeo has an unknown error. In this case, please contact support.
